So long ’70s, so long Ray

Before I get to the tearjerking reality, here’s a lil’ more youtube madness that’s ‘lost in translation’

I see the nuns are gay!

It’s a sad, sad day, watching the finales for both That ’70s Show and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Both have been firm ‘friends’ in my life, even though I confess to only watching them when I happen to be a) awake at the right time, b) the TV happens to be available, and c) it’s Monday.

I’ve never quite liked other sitcom staples like Friends (too yuppie-ish), Frasier (too attas), Cheers (too old), …

On that note, Godspeed Peter Boyle a.k.a. Frank Barone, who passed on at the end of last year. “Holy Crap!” indeed.

Monday night comedy on Star World will never be the same.

P.S. To my muslim bruddas and sistas, Maaf Zahir Batin, or “Sorry if I’ve pissed you off in the past year!”. Love you all.

P.P.S. I got so many more responses to this than when I send out Christmas or Chinese New Year SMSes. What gives…?

An idle mind is the devil’s workshop

It’s been a week since I’ve been returned to work full-time . All of last year’s leave is gone at last. Never thought large blocks of idle-ness could be so un-enjoyable.

Feels good to finally be doing something productive at work. It’s been a busy week, and had to pretty much hit the ground running. Schedule’s starting to fill up too. Lainey & Jeff’s wedding rehearsal today, AA event tonight, some pageant thing too if I can make it, go-karting tomorrow morning, W’s ‘Deal or No Deal’ session on monday… Busy busy busy…

Still, no matter how busy, life still feels… empty.

Maddening Munich

The world is breaking, faster than you think you can fix it. So many pieces, so little superglue…

You think you can outrun your fears, your doubts,
The only thing that really scares you guys is stillness.
But everyone overtaken, eventually.
- Carl (Munich, 2005)

Fukkin Munich DVD is screwed. I want my refund.

Wild (fowl) weekend

Picked up a noisy (sound system + engine) car for a shoot at East Coast. Thought I lost the key at one point, … blardy keyless ignitions!

Got a real drama message about Steven ‘Yao Guai’ Chua in ICU at Changi General Hospital. Picked up the fresh prince of Joo Chiat and zipped over to hospital, where things were unexpectedly calm. Stayed awhile, saw him hooked up to tubes, said a prayer, and left. Stay strong, Steven.

Then spent some time at SMU, where i met quite some old friends, lijun, 4star, hatta, kristin, alfi, chanranpal, met some new friends of friends, and colleagues from work.

Met W & E at Brix for drinks. It’s a joint crawling with ‘working girls’. My company for the evening dared me to approach one of them, and the evening just became a trailer for a bad B-grade movie after that. Think Harold & Kumar go to Whitecastle, Dude where’s my car, …

Somewhere in the midst of it all, some of us got ‘violated’ (some willingly, some not) in a strange bollywood bar. Alcohol & tears flowed, stories were told, and somehow everyone got home safe.

Sunday brought some sanity with an overdue run, A buying my lunch after her marathon workout, ferry service for the folks, and an asskicking for MrMan at Klassic. ;)

The rest of this week has passed, largely without incident…

Funky stew that’s way overdue

It’s been way too easy to fall into a slow funk and decide that my own pathetic existence is the most pitiful of all. Still, friends have been nice, patient and civil, not stabbing me with their cutlery and all… Muchos gracias amigos!

Think B and me have been simmering in the nasty stew of self-pity for a little too long.  Time to climb out of the pot.

I still worry though, because i think my nasty relationship virus seems somewhat virulent and infectious. B’s probably over the worst, but I see cracks appearing (someone)elsewhere. So if you’re about to start a relationship, or are already in one (that you want to keep!), stay away from yours truly. The (Bad) Karma Police probably have an arrest warrant out for me.

My second epiphany has come – actually it felt like a slap in the face, but whatever works – and now, I truly see the buffoon I’ve been for the past 10 days. *shudder*

Man, … it was Uuuugry! PATHETIC too, naturally. And now, i think i’m CURED. (just like beef jerky) :)

To lcl, if you happen to be reading this: I think I’ve not been the most rational
of people in the last couple of weeks, and I do apologise for all my non-sense. Sorry, … really.

We now return to our regular programming…

Cropped circles

Like bug-eyed aliens that come silently in the night to create shapes in cornfields, my mind goes round in circles, trawling the millions of synapses, just when i’m not looking.

Round and round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows…

Selfish, selfless.
Wealthy, wealthless.
Happy, helpless

If you truly love someone, you’d want for them to be happy, even if it’s not you that’s standing next to them in the end.
