Cameras & other things that attach to them

I used to own a puny Nikon D40 that I purchased for myself as a Christmas present in December 2006. I’m now using a slightly less puny Nikon D90 that’s permanently coupled to a AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED DX VR Lens for everything. (Lazy, I am) When I have a bit more time to get a little arty, there’s the bokehlicious AF 50mm f/1.4. Where necessary, the Nikon SB600 is attached for additional illumination. External flash died after batteries leaked.

These days, my gear sits in the Digi-Cabi drybox since there aren’t adhoc jobs anymore. The D40 was a great investment, and saw action in Bintan, Sentosa, India, Thailand, and Malaysia, aside from many a local photo-op. The D90 has gone to Switzerland (Lausanne, Zurich), France (Paris), Malaysia (Malacca, Penang), Hong Kong, Indonesia (Bintan, Bali), Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket) and Taiwan (Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung) thus far. Have gotten lazy these days and the Canon S110 is spoiling me with its image quality and tiny size. Useful in tight spaces and even with low light.

Phone+cams

Some of the early, grainy, soft-focus pics might be from my Sony Ericsson w550i, which whooped ass in terms of MP3 sound quality back then, but a slightly less credible 1.3 megapixel camera. That was later upgraded to a Sony Ericsson K800i which was again, a mobile phone photography trendsetter at the time. The Nokia E71 did everything well aside from photography. The iPhone 3GS did slightly better, but the iPhone 4 knocked it out of the park. Because my contract ran out and there was no iPhone 5 in sight (approx 2 months ago), I jumped on the Samsung S3 bandwagon. Moved over to the HTC One which was the best phone I had owned in awhile, until purple haze issues on the camera and overheating forced me to give up and go back to the S5.
